SFL2 V Straffan 20th May at 6pm – Adrian Melia Collection

All of the gate takings at this evenings match V Staffan are going directly to the fund below as are gate collections at all masses the weekend of 4th June.

As many of you know Kildare photographer Adrian Melia has sadly been battling cancer over the last while. He is now trying to raise money for special treatment abroad after doctors in Ireland have said there isn’t any more they can do for him here. If you follow Kildare GAA and/or club games you will have seen Adrian at countless matches taking photos over the years.

A lovely man and a brilliant photographer, he now needs our help to organise some sort of fundraiser for him after all the work he has done at their games over the years. As Adrian is from the area , We as a community are hoping to get support from people in our parish. There will be an envelope drop to all houses in the parish , these can be returned to either church on the 4th of June.
Envelopes can be given to the following committee members Joe Fox, Claire Kelly, Pat Cox, Georgina Carew & Fr Jimmy. There will also be a church gate collection at our three masses on the weekend of the 4th of June.
Wishing Adrian all the best with this. Hopefully with your help he will reach the target required!

St Kevin’s V Kilcock Wed 20th @ 8pm, Venue: Kilcock

MD Sports Kildare Senior Football League, Division 2 we’re currently in second place (See below) and play Kilcock who are third placed on Saturday 15th of July away in Kilcock. The spoils to the winner of this crucial game is a spot in the league final against Clogherinkoe, a draw will mean that it will depend on the results from other games.

The winner of Division two gets a chance in a playoff against the fifth from the bottom team from Division one, and the second placed team gets a playoff against the division one sixth from the bottom.

This means potentially two teams from division two could get promotion. Noel Mooney Senior Bainisteoir Saint Kevin’s feels “That we’d have targeted the league final this year early on and we’re close to that and that gives us games against stronger teams before the next round of the championship as well”

Finally a note on next years (2017) Kildare Senior Football League, the league will be re-arranged as follows, Division 1 will consist of Eleven teams, (this will be a total reduction of five teams down from sixteen) and only two possible promotion spots from Division 2 this year. Division 2 will not only home these demoted five teams but will also be reduced to ten teams (so six teams will be demoted from Division 2). These smaller divisions will mean a much more competitive league competition with every game being important.
